Biography

Antonina Liberati - Sicilian painter

Antonina Liberati

a passion for painting

The passion for art has always increased the desire to express myself, first with drawing, studying the basic techniques and subsequently with painting from life. The admiration for the landscapes of my homeland contributed from the beginning to marking my preference in the choice of subjects of the first drawings and subsequently of the paintings.

I often paint environments taken from photographic but also mnemonic images, enriching them with that strength of color that characterizes it.

Following my first group exhibitions as a debutant, I felt the need to learn important painting techniques from a well-known Sicilian art master, studies that would further personalize a style that had already emerged previously.
I will experiment with painting on multiple supports but the approach to oil colour will be the methodology that will allow the brilliance necessary to bring my projects to life.

Thanks to subsequent experiences, the most meticulous details of the works will be inspired by authors such as Pieter Bruegel “The Elder” and the great masters of figurative painting.

Over time I have appreciated the landscape settings of our Sicilian identity, the wonderful aspects of Palermo and those images dear to travelers like Goethe, who, thanks to our coast surrounded by mountains that reverberate on the sea, realized the uniqueness of our land and wrote a philosophical treatise on the light and colors of Sicily.

Painting gave me a way to express myself. Through paintings I try to convey emotions as nourishment for the soul, trying to represent the beauty that surrounds us.

Throughout my career as an artist I have participated in several exhibitions, obtaining various merits from the juries but above all receiving strong interest from the participating public.
